Conexiones Improbables

Conexiones Improbables (Improbable Connections) has been developed from a new organisation that was set up in 2009: c2+i (culture, communication and innovation), encouraging creative processes and new relational areas between economics, culture and social organisations. c2+i is managed by Roberto Gómez de la Iglesia, with the collaboration of Arantxa Mendiharat for Improbable.

The concept
Improbable Connections is a community of collaborative and co-creative research initiatives aimed at innovation and social responsibility. It is based on the paradigms of open innovation and the principles of interrelated fields, disciplines and individuals.

It therefore relates the arts, philosophy, science, business and governance in search of new questions and answers that respond to the needs of all manner of organisations. The connections are supposedly improbable, but possible.

Improbable Connections fosters an environment that is able to promote transformation from the hybridisation of differences. Slow, deeper and more radical innovation backed by joint research and experimentation, as well as by values and people.

What we do

  • We connect and mediate: We propose environments in which artists, creators, philosophers, anthropologists, business or social organisations, scientists and thinkers can interact in search of committed social and productive innovation. As a driving force for change and innovation, Improbable creates a high-value context for the creators, thinkers, companies and public or social organisations involved. The opportunity is mutual.
  • We think and propose: Improbable is an active member of several groups that contemplate methodologies for the hybridisation of differences (like Creative Clash). We develop tools and methods that encourage creativity under Creative Commons licences.
  • We disseminate: We develop programmes that enable shared learning between different experiences, mainly through OpenLabs. Improbable is also present in numerous local and international forums.

What we offer organisations
We offer companies, research centres and government administrations (regardless of their size and scope of activity) the ability to integrate professionals with other references and methodologies into their teams, such as artists and thinkers from the social sciences.

They can in turn help to develop experimental research and co-creation, integrating complexity, diversity and critical and creative thinking in order to:

  • question and reformulate organisational questions such as “why” and “what for”: Mission, vision, business, values, key skills and relational framework.
  • develop new skills and processes of innovation based on social responsibility from this initial thought process:
  • generating new products, services and technologies or new uses for existing ones.
  • encouraging creative teams and environments, empowering individuals and social participation through the construction of experiences with internal and external audiences.

The projects are always based on the needs of organisations and Improbable acts as a mediator and facilitator during the collaborative process
