TILLT
TILLT is a producer of ARTISTIC INTERVENTIONS in organisations. An artistic
intervention is established when an organisation enters into a
COLLABORATION with an artist, such as an actor/director/playwright, visual
artist/painter/photographer, dancer/ choreographer, writer/poet,
composer/musician or a conceptual artist.
The aim of such a collaboration is to CROSS-FERTILIZE the competences of the
two worlds: the world of the arts and the world of the organisation. The
work of TILLT is focused in two directions; on the one side TILLT focuses on
processes of human growth and ORGANISATIONAL DEVELOPMENT – artistic
competence as a tool to stimulate creativity, innovation, human development,
and more. On the other side, TILLT works for increasing the field of work
for artists where new art can be born and NEW ARTISTIC METHODS can be
developed.
This collaboration basically means that both the organisation and the artist
will need to rethink WHAT they do, WHY they do it, and HOW they work or
operate which is a key to development. Everyone engaged in these
collaborations get to practice the art of changing perspectives, ultimately
leading to a development of CREATIVITY and INNOVATION CAPACITY. In short,
TILLT produces new sources of sustainable growth with the arts as a
catalyst, supports the discovery of the “hidden” creative potential that
resides within all individuals, and enables transfers of skills between
different sectors.
Why artistic interventions?
An artistic intervention is a development method that stimulates creativity,
personnel development, disruptive thinking, new interactions, and new
perspectives – the core of innovation. At the core of these artistic
interventions is the capacity of artists to subvert and challenge routines,
mind-sets and traditional management processes. Results are an increased
capacity to:
– think laterally, be imaginative, think ”out of the box”.
– challenge traditional solutions.
– follow non-linear and uncertain processes in order to allow the
development of a new vision.
– realise something new out of a vision that is not necessarily functional
or dependant on a pre-existing theory or scientific integrity.
Introducing these new competences in the work place helps people, business
and society to develop in new ways.
Why TILLT?
Throughout the entire duration of each project, TILLT acts as a process
leader. The process leader supports the creative process initialized and
helps to build a platform in which learning and development can flourish.
The process leader pays regular visits to the work place, conducts in-depth
interviews, and holds seminars. The aim of this is to continuously monitor
the progress in order to provide the project with the adequate support.
TILLT carries over 10 years of experience in creating meetings that provoke
established mindsets, and allows different ways of thinking to meet and
cross fertilize. The presence of the process leader creates a buffer between
the artist and the organisation allowing the artist to be provocative
without the fear of provoking too much – TILLT constantly monitors what is
going on, making sure that limits are expanded within the organisation at
their own terms and in a such a way that artistic integrity is protected.
The artistic presence in the work place highlights ongoing issues at the
workplace in new ways. At the same time it involves a large group of people
in the creative development processes. This has several implications for the
organization; it means that more knowledge and competence is involved in the
innovation process, making it more holistic and sustainable than it would
have been otherwise. It also means that the artistic intervention is capable
of creating a more profound and long term change in the organisation since
it is the members of the organisation that are at the core of the change.
But this is not an easy task – that is why the intervention is supported by
a TILLT process leader.
